Billing Portal - Settings

The Settings page is where you can change your account settings, such as your billing password and account PIN number.

Note: The Security PIN is a 4 to 8 digit number that only you know. It is used to confirm that we are speaking with the account owner when you contact us for support.

Change Billing Password

To change your billing password:

  1. Log into your Client Area at https://portal.hostgator.com/
    • If you cannot remember your password, click on the Forgot Password link below the login area, then follow the instructions emailed to the primary email address on file.
  2. Select the Settings icon in the My Account Tab.

  3. Put in your current password.
     
  4. Put in the password you would like to use going forward.
    Note: It is recommended to use the Generate A Password feature to ensure your new password is secure. This feature is outlined below.

  5. Select Change Password.

    You will receive a notification indicating that your password change was successful, as illustrated below.

Using the Generate A Password Feature

Ensuring you have a strong password is the best step towards protecting your sensitive information, but sometimes it can be a challenge to create unique passwords that fit your security needs. This Generate A Password feature does the hard work for you, and provides you with a safe and secure password of your desired length.

To generate a password:

  1. Select the Generate A Password tab from within the Settings page.
     
  2. Input the Number of Digits you wish the password to be.
    Note: "Number of Digits" refers to the amount of characters within your newly generated password. It does not indicate that all characters will be numeric.
  3. Select the Generate button.

  4. If you are not satisfied with the new password, you can select Generate Again to have an alternate password generated for you. Additionally, you can edit the Number of Digits if you would like to make the password longer or shorter.

  5. If you are satisfied with your new password, please ensure you save it somewhere safe and then select the Change Password button.
     
  6. If you have not already entered your current password, you will be redirected to the previous tab and instructed to provide your current password.
    Note: Your generated password should be automatically populated below the field requesting your current password.

  7. Enter your current billing password.
     
  8. Select change password.

    You will receive a notification indicating that your password change was successful, as illustrated below.

How to Change Your PIN

The security PIN is a 4 to 8 digit number that only you know. It is all numeric and it is used to confirm that we are speaking with the account owner when in Live Support. To change your PIN right now, you may use this WalkMe, which will guide you through the entire process:

To change your PIN:

  1. Enter the new PIN you would like to use.
     

  2. Enter the new PIN a second time to confirm it is correct.
     
  3. Click Change PIN

    You will receive a notification indicating that your PIN change was successful, as illustrated below:
