WordPress Direct fix

PROBLEM: You try to install WordPress Direct and get the IndexOf listing, or an incomplete installation.

SOLUTION: Delete the default.html page from your public_html folder before you attempt the install.

After you remove the default page, attempt the installation, again.

I went to my filezilla ftp to public_html found "default.html" and deleted it. Re-installed my domain thru fantastico but it still won't let me get to a home theme page. It just takes me to the long list of indexs. I have watched 4 different tutorials on loading wordpress using fantastico. I have actually got two other blogs on wordpress that I loaded with fantastico but this time I cannot get it to do what it shows in the tutorials.
The tutorial says, after your install wordpress and click on finish installation you then click on "visit site" and it takes you to a log in page.
Well it does not take me to a log in page. It takes me to an "index of" page. My domain url shows in the browser window but when I click on visit site I only get the "index of" page.
I can go to "install themes" in the index list and get to what appears to be the admin. page of my blog. I can install a theme and activate it but when I click on "visit site" it just goes back to the "index of" page with the long list of indexes.

You need to add this line to your .htaccess file in the WordPress blog folder.

DirectoryIndex index.php

where do i find the .htaccess file in the wordpress blog folder? there are so many folders under wordpress.

HostGator
It's immediately after all the folders. However, you must select the option to View Hidden Files when you first launch File Manager.

Otherwise, FTP will work great as it always allows viewing of hidden files.

I seem to be getting a conflict with my URLs on wordpress, i update one site it updates all of them, or causes problems. I thought at first it was maybe my admin and password were the same on all sites causing a cache problem, but i think its a database problem and im stumped.

My first guess is they all share the same database. Please contact us via email, phone or live chat for assistance.
