mod_deflate

Compressing Content

Apache 2.0 and 2.2 allow you to compress content using mod_deflate (also known as mod_gzip) before sending it to the visitor's browser. The types of content to be compressed are specified by MIME type.

Mod_deflate is available on all our Linux based hosting packages, including shared, reseller, SEO Hosting, VPS and Dedicated server plans.

You can enable or disable it in cPanel by doing the following:

  1. Login to cPanel.
  2. In the "Software/Services" section, click on "Optimize Website."
  3. Under "Compress Content" select the appropriate option:
    • Disabled
    • Compress all content
    • Compress the specified MIME types
  4. Specify the MIME types, if you selected "Compress the specified MIME types."
  5. Click on "Update Settings."

These setting applies to your entire cPanel account.
