iWeb

Apple iWeb is a template-based WYSIWYG website creation tool. Your iWeb program is designed by default to publish a site to your MobileMe account (formerly your .mac account).

However, you do have the power to publish to another hosting company, like HostGator.

  • When publishing your primary domain with iWeb, you should change the site name to "public_html" and the directory path should be "/".
  • When publishing your existing addon or subdomain with iWeb, you should change the site name to your corresponding subfolder and the directory path should be "/public_html/".

Did you know that the preview link generated by iweb when publishing will not work if you have the site name as public_html?
