Can I host friends?

Yes, you can host sites for your friends on your Web Hosting account, as long as you are not charging them money for hosting.

However, if any of your friends need direct access to the databases or cPanel functions, they will need your cPanel login information. If you chose to get a Reseller account, then each friend will have their own cPanel. This is really a much better way to host multiple sites that do not have the same owner.

Remember, shared Web Hosting accounts may not resell their hosting to other people. If you wish to resell hosting, you must use a Reseller Hosting, VPS or dedicated account.

I currently host sites for additional organizations gratis but also have multiple web sites for my own business and personal use. Is there a limit to the number of domains I can host? My current web host has a limit of 5 i think.

Most of our plans offer hosting for an unlimited number of domains. I suggest a Baby or Business account.

On those plans, it is acceptable to host your own sites and other sites for free (gratis). However, if you want to charge money for the other sites you host, we require you to purchase a Reseller or higher plan.

How do I give a person access to work on one of my sites, without giving them access to personal information, other sites of mine, account information, billing info, etc?

HostGator
You can create an FTP account for that person. Please read the related article for more help.
