Stolen Credit Card, unauthorized signup

Did someone make a fraudulent charge to your credit card or PayPal?

Providing us with the following information will help us find the charge in our system, cancel the offending account, and prevent future charges.

Please, email sales@hostgator.com with the following information:

  1. Your first and last name
  2. The amount of the unauthorized charge
  3. Currency used by your card provider if not in U.S. dollars (USD)
  4. The date of the charge
  5. The type of credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, etc.)
  6. The first 4 numbers of the credit card and the last 4 numbers of the credit card, eg. 1234-XXXX-XXXX-5678
Never offer a live support agent your full credit card number. HostGator does not need that information to find the transactions in question.

Please note: we take fraudulent charges very seriously. We will close the offending account, and refund back to you all unauthorized charges right away. Simply email sales@hostgator.com with the above information.

I am interested in opening a hosting account with your company, but am afraid something like this would happen to me. I noticed your transaction page is not https:// and there is no locked padlock or broken key symbol. So
what I would like to know is how secure are your transactions?

First, our order wizard is on a secure connection. When you click any Order button, you will notice you are redirected to https://secure.hostgator.com

Second, our customers' information is not being compromised; we won't let that happen to you. This article is written for people who already had their cards and personal information stolen BEFORE they were used to purchase hosting.

Thanks, that was helpful.
