What is the best coupon code for me?

We have several coupon codes you can use towards your web hosting order. These coupons apply to the web hosting portion of your order, and are not applied towards any other services, like domain registration.

Coupon Code for Current Promotion: 20% Off

The coupon code for our current special will automatically appear after you choose the billing cycle for your new plan.

Shared and Reseller Coupons

You can find our current coupon code while placing your order.

The 20% off coupon can be used by new and existing customers. It only applies to new orders, and only includes the months of hosting (not domain registrations) that are part of your initial order. If you sign up for more than one month on the shared plans, we do discount all of the months.

VPS and Dedicated Coupons

You can find our current coupon code while placing your order.

The 20% off coupon can be used by new and existing customers. It only applies to new orders, and applies to your first month of hosting.

You will NOT be able to use the 20% off coupon and pay annually or semi-annually. You can't sign up for more than one month of dedicated or VPS on our website; therefore, the coupon is only good for the first month.

Alternate Coupon: $9.94 Off

We have a second coupon code called 'hgc25'. The hgc25 coupon takes up to $9.94 off any new hosting purchase by a new customer. Use this for any initial order totaling $49.70 or less (new customers only, one-time use).  If your web hosting order totals more than $49.70, then the 20% off coupon gives you a better discount.

So, I can get Baby hosting for a penny?

Yes, you can use the hgc25 coupon to get the first month of Baby hosting for only a penny. We want you to try our Baby hosting with no risk. You still get the 45-day money-back guarantee on your penny.

So, can I get Baby for free if I choose the cheaper payment option?

No, to get the annual or semi-annual discounted rates, you would need to pay in advance, so the signup price will not be less than $9.94. 

So, can I get Hatchling for free?

No, the coupon will only take $8.94 off a Hatchling plan, so the first month costs a penny.  This is because we have a minimum charge to setup your account, which is $0.01 (one penny).

SEO Hosting Coupon: $35 Off

You can use the coupon code 35off on seohosting.com to get up to $35 off your initial order.

(If your order is $35 or less, you will be charged $0.01 since there is a minimum charge of one penny to setup your account.)

Other Coupons

Any other coupon codes may simply be duplicates of our official $9.94 off coupon. They may also be coupons that are not available to the public. These types of coupons may be part of marketing campaigns where we are tracking the results.  As such, giving out these coupon codes would skew the results and defeat the purpose of having multiple coupon codes. 

Phone and chat agents do not have any other coupon codes, and would not be able to provide you with any coupons that are not listed on this page.

Important Notes:

  • Coupons can only be used on your initial order (a new order). You cannot use a coupon for renewals.
  • Coupons only apply to web hosting, and cannot be applied towards domain registration or other services.
  • Minimum charge is $0.01 (one penny) on new orders, even with a coupon.

Yes, your referrals can use coupons, and you still make the same money.

Just remember that your customer must enter the coupon code for themselves. You cannot sign-up for your referrals and you cannot include the coupon automatically in your affiliate link.

How long are coupon codes used before they are changed? Do old codes remain valid for a period of time? i.e. if I had an outdated code on a website will it still work?

Do affiliates get notified of updates to the coupon codes?

Coupons are typically good for 1 to 3 months. Outdated coupons will not work.

You can always have the most recent coupon code by clicking through our order wizard until the coupon is displayed.

After you upgrade, you may then request to pay for multiple months.

If I use an affiliate banner/link on my site, and someone click on it but than he/she puts a coupon code that is not mine, am I still elegible for the commision, or is the one that has the coupon? (or both)

UPDATE: You get the commission when they click your link, no matter what HostGator coupon code they use.

However, if they use another affiliate's coupon, then that affiliate will get the commission.

Yes, you may upgrade or downgrade at any time.

Remember, upgrades are no extra cost (just pay the difference between the cost of the plans), but there is a $10 fee to downgrade (and we credit you the difference between the cost of the plans).

I created a coupon code in the Affiliate control panel. It says "Here you may create custom coupon codes which can be used at signup to give customers a discount of $9.94 off the package price. "

So does this mean that someone that uses my coupon must purchase at least a 1 year plan? Does it apply to shared, reseller, VPS and dedicated plans?

And will my coupon expire?

I just created a coupon code in the existing manage coupons in my affiliate panel, named DISCOUNTPRO. what happens if another affiliater create coupons with the same name? Can I promote it via ppc?

I read on the support portal that says 20% discount coupon only, but in manage coupons in my affiliate panel says $ 9.94 discount. Which is correct?

The coupon codes you create are unique, meaning only one coupon with that name can exist in our system.

This portal does not say your coupons are 20% off; it says our coupon is 20% off. Your coupon will be $9.94 off (Baby or Hatchling for a penny).

Yes, but you will be responsible to pay the price we charge for that hosting for the amount of time you actually used it. The remainder can be refunded.

EXAMPLE: You buy Hatchling for 3 years and 20% off. You only use it for 1 year and 3 months. You must pay the 1 year price at 20% off since you do not qualify for the 3 year price.

MATH: You paid $142.56 at signup. From what you paid, you owe $66.72 for the first year and $16.68 for the next 3 months. Total of $83.40 we get from the original payment, which is still a good price. We can offer $59.16 back.

I had been hosting hostgator monthly subscription. I want to change it into an annual subscription. I question whether can I change it immediately when my hosting expires. or should I create a new order by moving the contents of my hosting.
If I have to create a new order if hostgator can help move the contents of my hosting from my old hosting to new hosting.

Do NOT sign up a new account just to change the billing cycle. Doing so creates much unnecessary work, and we may decline to transfer the content for you.

Instead, simply email sales@hostgator.com and request we change your billing cycle to annual. The next time your account needs to renew, we will generate an invoice for a year.
