How difficult will the upgrade/downgrade be?
There is NO server change when you switch plans of the same type, as indicated in the table below.
| Type | Switch Between Plans | Server Change? |
|---|---|---|
| Shared | Hatchling, Baby, Business | NO Server Change |
| Reseller | Aluminum, Copper, Silver, Gold, Diamond | NO Server Change |
| Windows Shared | Personal, Enterprise | NO Server Change |
| VPS cPanel | Levels 3 to 9 (with cPanel) | NO Server Change |
| VPS Plesk | Levels 3 to 9 (with Plesk) | NO Server Change |
| Semi-managed VPS | Levels 1 to 9 (VZ only; no control panel) | NO Server Change |
This means the nameservers and IP address will NOT need to change, SSL and other custom software will NOT need to be reinstalled, and you will NOT need to transfer your site content. (Of course, if you order a dedicated IP or a new SSL, then those will change and be installed per your request.)
Any time you switch types of hosting, there will be a server change. For example:
- If switching between Shared and Reseller and VPS plans, there is a server change.
- If switching to or away from any Dedicated server plan, there is a server change.
- If moving to or away from a Windows Shared plan, there will be a server change.
- If you are changing types of VPS, then there will be a server change. (The types of VPS include cPanel VPS, Plesk VPS and Semi-manged VPS. VPS levels 1 & 2 and any VPS that does not have cPanel or Plesk are considered Semi-managed. VPS' with cPanel or Plesk are considered managed.)
This means the nameservers and IP address will change, SSL and other custom software will need to be reinstalled, and you will need to transfer your site content. These changes cannot be circumvented.
