Changing MX, A , CNAME records - Plesk 9



Plesk 9: Changing DNS zone records

To change an MX, A or CNAME record do the following:
  1. Log into Plesk
  2. Click on Domains
  3. Click on the domain name in question
  4. Click on the arrow next to the words "Web Site" and choose DNS Settings [screenshot]
To change an MX record:
  1. Click on the MX record to edit
  2. Leave "Record type" as MX
  3. Leave "Enter mail domain" blank
  4. Change the "Enter mail exchanger" to the name of your mail server (this name is supplied by your email hosting company)
  5. If necessary, change the "Specify priority of mail exchange server" to the desired setting.
To change an A record:
  1. Click on the A record to edit
  2. Leave the "Record type" as A
  3. For "Enter a domain name", put in the subdomain you want to host
  4. For "Enter IP Address", change it to the IP of your desired server
To change the CNAME record:
  1. Click on the CNAME record to edit
  2. Leave the "Record type" as CNAME
  3. For "Enter a domain name", put in the subdomain you want to host
  4. For "Enter a canonical name", change it to the name of your desired server

After making the changes above, click on OK. The changes will take between 4 to 8 hours to update worldwide.
