How do I buy?
VPS customers, you will NOT be able to use the 20% off coupon and pay annually or semi-annually. You can't sign up for more than one month of VPS on our website; therefore, the coupon is only good for the first month.
You may purchase VPS and dedicated for only one month at a time. However, after 90 days you can add credits to your billing account which will be automatically used to pay future invoices. If you need to add a credit during the first 90 days, please email sales@hostgator.com with the reason why you are adding credit to your account.
Where do I start?
After buying your VPS plan, login to SSH or cPanel or Plesk to get started. If you do not know what to do in SSH, please upgrade to a VPS account with cPanel or Plesk.
HostGator can guide you through getting started if you have a plan with cPanel or Plesk installed. The steps are very similar to our Reseller Getting Started page.
Do I keep using the same name servers?
You must register and use private name servers with a VPS plan. If you already have private name servers, you must update them with your new VPS account's IP addresses. Click here to learn more.
What can I do on a VPS?
VPS is best for installing custom software, creating custom configurations, sending emails without the shared server limitations, and hosting live streaming media. (This is not a solution to overly resource-intensive accounts or heavy traffic.)

Can I move SSL certificates from my old HostGator account to my VPS?
We will install the SSL certs from your previous HostGator account for FREE.
How can I upgrade or modify my plan from one VPS plan to another VPS plan?
We have online forms for requesting to upgrade or downgrade between different VPS levels.
Please contact sales@hostgator.com to modify settings but stay on the same Level. If you are adding cPanel to your VPS, we leave the old container active so you can transfer files to the new container. You must cancel the old container when you are finished with the transfer process.
