So your business customers but not your resellers get a free SSL????

And the next question, if we purchase your normal SSL certificate does it cover subdomains?

HostGator
Shared Webhosting, Resellers, and SEO Resellers get a free shared SSL certificate. Business plans pay more than Baby plans to get the private SSL and dedicated IP address included.

Normal SSL certificates do not cover subdomain names. The certificate will cover the subfolder paths. EXAMPLE: A certifcate for the-domain.com will not cover help.the-domain.com , but it will cover the-domain.com/help/

You must purchase a wildcard SSL to cover all subdomains automatically.

I have the business plan, I got my free IP and SSl, do I get IDAuthority too or would I have to buy the SSL directly from Comodo for that?

HostGator
If you buy HostGator's Instant SSL ($150 per year), then you are automatically listed in IdAuthority.

If you buy HostGator's Positive SSL certificate ($50 per year or free with a Business plan), then Comodo says they offer FREE registration in IdAuthority, but this information is incorrect. I apologize for Comodo's mistake, and we ask them to correct the information quickly.

I heard to renew an SSL it only costs $25 but I cannot find that anywhere.

HostGator
No, that is misinformation. Please read the related article "SSL getting started".

(Renewing SSL is accomplished by simply buying new SSL. The $25 fee is a reissue fee, which is very different.)

If I have activated a Private SSL while under the Business Plan, and then later upgrade to the Reseller plan, does that Private SSL go away?

HostGator
No, it does not go away if you decide to keep it.

This will require you to install the certificate on the new server, which is a $10 one-time fee. Once the certificate expires, you can renew it for $50 per year.
