How do I create Sitebuilder accounts for my clients?

For Resellers and Dedicated customers, we give you a reseller Sitebuilder account so you can create sub-accounts for your own clients.

Note: Before you can use Sitebuilder, you must signup for access here. Then you can login here.

Common Question: How do I create accounts for my clients?
Answer: Please create a New User and provide the settings for that user.

  1. Sign in and go to Users. Click the icon called Add New User Account.

  2. Fill out the form with your customer's information. (The user name and password are the Sitebuilder login for your customer.) Also, be sure to create the account as a Site Owner and check the "Proceed to registering..." box.

  3. You will be directed to a second page. Enter the domain name without http or www, just domain.com.

  4. Click the Publishing Settings tab and fill out the details.
    • Publishing mode: FTP
    • Host (IP address or DNS name): car-name.websitewelcome.com
    • Port: 21
    • Login: cPanel username
    • Password: cPanel password
    • Working directory: /public_html/
    • Website URL: http://domain.com/

  5. Hit the Verify Location button to test the FTP. Then hit OK if it works. (FTP will fail if the domain name does not resolve to HostGator, or the user/pw is incorrect.)

still confused about the answer to: Host (IP address or DNS name): car-name.websitewelcome.com - I get get my client's website to publish.

HostGator
The car-name you will use can be found in your cPanel left hand menu under "Server Name".

Please contact HostGator via phone or chat for further help.

Getting and error saying "The site cannot be published to the specified location.
Cannot find site files at http://www.(websitename).org/. The specified site URL does not match the FTP settings.

I have created a new account for this user in WHM. Thier cpanel is set up. Can't figure out why I keep getting this message.

HostGator
Try the URL without "www".

Also, if the domain name does not point to HostGator hosting (via nameservers or DNS), then you must use the server's IP address as the Host name.

Is ther a charge for allowing clients to use sitebuilder or site studio?

HostGator
There is no charge to allow your clients to use the site building programs, and you get an unlimited number of user accounts; however, you are limited to the number of sites per account. Please read the related article "Sitebuilder, what do I get?" and check the paragraphs called "RESELLERS" and "ADDITIONAL SITEBUILDER SITES".

You may charge your clients a one-time or recurring fee to use the site building programs. That is your decision. You may find it necessary to start charging when your clients go over their 20 included sites.

Is there a way to delete the predefined/global hosts that are totally useless to me? I hate having to go manually into the plans every time I get a new client, and having to find the new host out of almost 10,000 predefined/global hosts. It takes more time than it's worth.

I am not able to recreate the problem you are seeing. My reseller SiteBuilder account only shows me the users I created.

Please join us in live chat or on the phones. We will be glad to investigate your problem.

I am getting:

Hi, getting:

The site cannot be published to the specified location.
The specified publishing settings are invalid.

All details are correct. I am using the IP address for the domain, have pinged it to check. Correct username + password (tested cpanel login). Correct working directory /public_html/ and correct http address without "www".

Please help.

Perhaps your FTP password is not synced with the cPanel password.

Please contact us via email, phone or live chat for assistance.
