Monitor your server's status

This can be done in cPanel, in the left hand menu. Scroll to the bottom and find the link for "Server Status" or "Service Status".

This can also be done in WHM, in the left hand menu. Look at the top for a section called "Server Status" and click on "Service Status".

How do I know if my server is down?

If you cannot access your emails, websites, and control panels, then your server may be down.

Shared, Reseller, and SEO

We monitor all the shared servers. If you suspect your server may be down, please contact HostGator for confirmation.

VPS

You may restart your server (container) via the Virtuozzo Power Panel. Your VZ panel will be available, even when your container is down.

Please note that we put a VPS into a cool-down period if it is slamming the server. This essentially shuts down the VPS for 10 minutes and emails the owner. If you have any questions about this, please email security@hostgator.com so we can diagnose the cause.

Dedicated

Please submit the form at hostgator.com/reboot.php and we will respond within 15 to 20 minutes.

Tobias
Using the cPanel 'status' interface, what is an acceptable number for the 'server load' field to be?

(Status page found at: http://YOUR-IP:2082/frontend/x3/status.html )

HostGator
We consider any load under 10 to be acceptable.
