How often are backups performed?

Shared and reseller servers are backed-up once a week on a random day; the exact time depends on when we can get to your server. Remember, you may not rely on our weekly backups to keep a copy of your content safe. You are responsible for saving your own content and keeping your own backups; HostGator backups are not guaranteed and should only be used in emergencies.

Shared (Hatchling, Baby, Business plans): You can check the date of our last backup via the HG style cPanel.

Reseller: Please contact us via phone or live chat, so that we can check the date of our latest backup.

To have any backup restored, please use this online form. If you provide your own backup file, the restore service will be free. If you request HostGator's emergency backup file, we charge $15 to restore it.

Please note, there are rules you must follow to stay on our weekly backup program. Please read the details in our TOS section 5, 7b and 7c.

Here are the important limits from the TOS.

Accounts found to be exceeding the 100,000 inode limit will automatically be removed from our backup system to avoid over-usage, however databases will still be backed up.

Any shared account using more than 20 gigs of disk space will be removed from our off site weekly backup with the exception of Databases continuing to be backed up.

Do regularly/weekly scheduled backups, backup "emails" on Resller accounts?

HostGator
Yes, the weekly backups for shared and reseller include emails.

They also include website files, scripts, and databases.

Andrew
Do you offer an addon service that make daily backups and have them accessible from the cpanel with say the last 7 days available?

HostGator
No, you will need to manage your own content and backups.

You may be able to find a 3rd party service which will manage your content, but it is normally much easier and cheaper to do it yourself.
