I cannot publish anymore with Sitebuilder. How do I fix this problem?

Shared Web Hosting

Did you recently change your control panel password? Perhaps you have changed to a new server, or have a new domain name?

You can modify the FTP publishing settings to fix these problems.

  1. Login to your Sitebuilder account and look at the top for the Admin Panel icon. Click the icon. [screen shot 1]
  2. In the admin area, look in the center for your site name. Click that name. [screen shot 2]
  3. Don't change anything, yet. Click the Publishing Settings tab. [screen shot 3]
  4. Now, update all of the settings with any new information. Click the Verify Location button to test your settings. Click OK when you get a green success message. [screen shot 4]

If you still need help, please contact HostGator via phone, live chat, or email sales@hostgator.com and tell us when SiteBuilder stopped working.

Reseller and Dedicated Hosting

To restore a Sitebuilder user's ability to publish, you must update the user's account within the reseller level Sitebuilder. This may be necessary if you are a reseller your customer changed their cPanel password. Please follow the following steps:
  1. Sign in and go to Users. Find the user name in question and scroll right until you see the flag icon. Click it. [screenshot 1]
  2. Find the name of the site and click it. [screenshot 2]
  3. You are directed to a new page. Click the Publishing Settings tab and click the Change Password button. [screenshot 3]
  4. Hit the Verify Location button to test the FTP. Then hit OK if it works. (FTP will fail if the domain name does not resolve to HostGator, or the user/pw is incorrect.)

I am receiving this error...The site cannot be published to the specified location. The specified site location does not support changes.

I have only just started with hostgator, so nothing has been changed.

HostGator
Your domain may not be pointing to HostGator, or may still be propagating.

For now, use our server IP as the host name in your FTP settings.

Also, be sure that your public_html folder has 0750 permissions. If you still have problems, contact us via email, phone or live chat for assistance.
