Quick tutorial on using HostGator.com's QuickInstall tool to quickly and easily install scripts, including: CMS (Joomla, Drupal), Blogs (WordPress), E-commerce Software (Magento), and over 70 other open-source applications.
QuickInstall Tutorial
- Login to your cPanel.
- Click on QuickInstall in the Software/Services section.
- Choose an Application on the left side. A page with the description of the application / script will appear.
- Click on Continue to begin.
- Select the domain or subdomain you want to install this application on from the drop down list.
- In the empty field next to the drop down list, enter the subdirectory you wish to install the application into. If you want to install it in the "root" of your site (i.e. at www. yourdomain.com), then leave this blank.
- Some applications will ask for specific information before they can install. Be sure to fill out the fields it presents.
- Click on the Install Now! button to install the application. The application will download and install to your web hosting account.
- Once it is finished installing, the link to your installed application will appear.
- Check your email for the administrator username and password.
How do I get QuickInstall?
QuickInstall is already installed on our Linux Shared and Reseller hosting.
For VPS with cPanel and Linux Dedicated Servers, you can request QuickInstall by emailing support@hostgator.com or creating a ticket to Support. QuickInstall is FREE upon request.
QuickInstall is not available on VPS with Plesk, or Windows hosting.
