How to Whitelist Your IP - Windows Dedicated

You may need to whitelist your IP address on the server if you want to connect the the server remotely, in some situations. For example, whitelisting your IP is a necessary prerequisite for remotely managing databases using software on your computer, such as Microsoft Server Management Studio Express.

  1. Login to RDP (Remote desktop).
  2. Go to start.
  3. Administrative tools.
  4. Click on Windows Firewall With Advanced Security.
  5. Click on Inbound Rules on the left hand side.
  6. In the middle look for and click on WHITELIST.
  7. At the top in the tabs click SCOPE.
  8. At the bottom you will see remote IP address. Click add and add your IP.

Note:

Whitelisting an IP using this method, whitelists it for everything, not just remote MySQL access.
