VPS General Information

What can I do on a VPS?

VPS is best for installing custom software, creating custom configurations, sending emails without the shared server limitations, and hosting live streaming media. (This is not a solution to overly resource-intensive accounts or heavy traffic.)

Is there a server processes limit?

There is no limit to the number of simultaneous processes. You may use 100% of the resources defined by your plan. Help, I am being limited!

Do I get weekly backups?

Yes. VPS users get weekly, automated, off-site backups.

How can I order a dedicated IP address?

Please contact sales@hostgator.com with this request. We can sell one IP for $2 per month (it is not necessary to order blocks of 8).

Do I get the 4500 downloadable templates?

Yes, but your domain name will not be recognized. Please use your VPS server's IP address instead of a domain name. Then enter a working FTP username and password and submit.

Do I get SiteBuilder and SiteStudio?

Same online form as dedicated servers: SiteBuilder | SiteStudio

Do I get Fantastico and Rvskins?

VPS accounts can install Fantastico, but the license is not included. Please contact http://netenberg.com/ directly for a license. Instead, we can offer our QuickInstall program free of charge.

Rvskins must be ordered via our online form.

Do I get WHMCS or WHMAP?

VPS accounts get a free license for AutoPilot, just submit this AutoPilot online form. We offer a WHMCS license at $5 per month; pleasesubmit this CompleteSolution online form. (The $5 per month will always apply to VPS, even if you upgrade from a reseller account.)

Do I get an eNom reseller account?

You get the same free eNom retail account as resellers, just submit this online form. You may upgrade to the reseller API at anytime; please, email sales@hostgator.com to request this.

How can I upgrade, downgrade, or modify my plan from one VPS plan to another VPS plan?

We have online forms for requesting to upgrade or downgrade between different VPS levels.

Please contact sales@hostgator.com to modify settings but stay on the same Level. If you are adding cPanel to your VPS, we leave the old container active so you can transfer files to the new container. You must cancel the old container when you are finished with the transfer process.

What application templates and managed applications does VPS support?

Currently, we have ffmpeg and django which will work if you have cPanel. You can install these from power panel.

Where is the customer billing site?

If another user on my VPS gets blacklisted, is everyone else on the server blacklisted?

No, you will not be blacklisted because of another user.

Do I get reboot request?

You can stop and start your own container via the VZ Control Panel, which is attached to the hardware node, so the problems on your VPS won't prevent you from getting into your VZ Control Panel.

Managed VPS users can also have their container restarted by contacting HostGator and making the request with live chat or on the phone.

How many cores does each VPS plan get?

VPS levels 1 - 4 have access to a single CPU core. Levels 5-7 have access to two cores. Levels 8 and 9 have access to 3 CPU cores.
