FTP getting started

File Transfer Protocol (FTP)

FTP is what most most webmasters use to upload their files, pages, and pictures to the internet. There are many different FTP programs available, some free, some paid, and some just better than others.

We recommend you use one of the programs listed in our Flash Movies. Where can I download a free FTP program?

Any other FTP client can be used. Some popular choices are:
Dreamweaver
FrontPage

FTP Connection Settings

Once you have the FTP program, you will need the proper settings to connect to your hosting account. You can find the settings here.

If you want to use a tool which is already installed and configured, we do have a browser based file manager that allows you to upload your content from within your control panel. Read more on File Manager.
