HostGator
You can create unlimited control panels with a reseller account. For each control panel you create, we can sell you one dedicated IP for $2 per month. So, you can have an unlimited number of dedicated IPs, depending on how many control panels you create.
Yes, we allow custom name servers. Please read http://www.hostgator.com/privatenameservers.shtml
I apologize, but we do not offer a discount for paying in advance. We allow to you to pay annually if it is more convenient and helps you avoid interruption in your services.

I am looking for a webhosting and email solution for a non profit group I belong to. The company was referred to me by a friend. The question I have is the following, the people involved with this group have limited in no experience in putting a website together and maintaining one. does HostGator support any of the linux CMS packages or recommend one over the other?
The main features they would need in a cms:
- Calendar
- HTML text field
- images
- document library
- links to other pages.
Thanks John

HostGator
Please search for "Technology Grant" to see our offer for nonprofit organizations.
We do allow CMS scripts, you can see a list on http://www.hostgator.com/shared.shtml under the Fantastico area (right-hand side in orange). We do not recommend one over the other, nor do we offer support for using the programs.
Your current site uses DotNetNuke and aspx files, which require Windows hosting. So, the website will need to be completely redesigned to work on our nonprofit hosting.

With a reseller account is my bandwith shared with my clients or do they purchase their own package?

HostGator
We give the reseller a set amount of bandwidth.
The reseller must then give his clients a set portion of his bandwidth.
Same for disk space.

The public_html folder can be found in the cPanel > File Manager, select the home directory option.
Also, you can make an FTP connection with your cPanel login to view the home directory.
There is no index_html. You are thinking of index.html, but we do not create that file for you. You create that file, or instead, publish your website with a site builder program.

I have the site files uploaded but don't know what to do from here. How do I publish? (I assume that's the next step)

HostGator
Uploading is publishing. However, to successfully publish, you must upload to the correct place.
Be sure to upload your file structure to the public_html folder. Typically, you will have a file named index.html, index.php, or index.htm. A age with one of these names will automatically act as your home page, and load when someone types your domain name in a browser.

I've created a web wage using NVU.
I think I've uploaded it to my home file at Hostgator.
Now, if I name it index.html and transfer it to my public file, will it show up if someone clicks my domain name?
Thanks, LG.
