Can I use my account and my site even though my domain name hasn't propagated yet?

Yes, you can use your website without a domain name (requires hosting).

We provide you a temporary URL in your welcome email, which can be used to view your site when your domain name is not working.

cPanel (Linux) example: http://ipaddress/~cpanelusername/

Plesk (Windows) example: http://ipaddress/$sitepreview/domain.com/

Of course, this is only an example. You must replace ipaddress with your server's IP, replace cpanelusername with your actual cPanel username, and replace domain.com with your actual domain name.

Note: If you forget the trailing forward slash (at the end) the you could be redirected to a different URL.

Yes, you can use your hosting account without a domain name.

I just bought a domain from HG a couple hours ago. I was hoping to use Filezilla right away. Do I have to wait for the name to propagate for that to work as well? The IP and password are accepted, but then the connection fails.

I want to upload Wordpress files and there are too many to do it one by one through the file manager. Can't seem to get Filezilla to work for this site yet (works for all others I've set up)

I just registered for a business hosting account. I tried to log into sitebuilder with the username and password provided but it's not working. I tried using the example above, http://ipaddress/$sitepreview/domain.com/, replacing the example with my IP address and domain and still doesn't work.

Is this because of the propagate period.

SiteBuilder does not work automatically. You must request a login at https://secure.hostgator.com/sitebuilder.php

For the site preview, you need to use the cPanel (Linux) example.
