When using HostGator's shared SSL, your browser will give a browser warning if you try to use your domain name instead of the secure server name in the URL.
You can either override the warning using the instructions below, or you can use the secure server name in the URL instead of your domain name. Using the correct secure server name eliminates the browser warning.

The only way to avoid the warning and still use your domain name is to purchase private SSL. Order online.
Here is how you can bypass the warning if you want to use the shared SSL with your domain name.
http://www.yourdomain.com/~username
Substitute your domain name for yourdomain.com and substitute your cPanel username where it says "username" in the example above.
Note: if you do not include your cPanel username in the URL as shown in the example above, your pages will not be displayed.
Firefox
- Go to the warning message and click the "I Understand the Risks" link at the bottom.
- Click the "Add Exception" button.
- Click the "Get Certificate" button.
- Click the "Confirm Security Exception" button.
Internet Explorer
- Go to the warning message and click "Continue to this website (not recommended)."
