Mailman mailing list

We do not recommend using the Mailing List tool in cPanel (Mailman), because that tool cannot throttle.

To send more than 500 emails, you must use a mailing program which can throttle emails, so we recommend phpList found in Fantastico Deluxe.

There is also a limit to the number of Mailman mailing lists permitted as follows (NOTE: This does not apply to other mailing list programs such as PHPList. This only applies to Mailman.)

    * Hatchling package: 20 Mailman mailing lists
    * Baby package: 25 Mailman mailing lists
    * Business package: 50 Mailman mailing lists
    * Reseller and Dedicated packages: Unlimited number of Mailman mailing lists


Mail Man lists can be used by going to cPanel > Mailing List and following the setup (as the default program is Mailman).

Is there a limit to the amount of emails we can send per hour?
We issue a newsletter and our current server only allows 100, this take us over 20 hours to send mail to our 2000 recipients

Yes, our limit on shared servers is 500 outgoing emails per domain per hour.

If you join HostGator, you can send a list of 2000 in 4 hours.

Mailman is a much easier app to set up and use. You can send from your normal mail client, configuration is a breeze and PHPmail really complicated.

If you have a small list and don't want the complexity of configuring PHPmail, Mailman would be better solution.
