How to add/remove an e-mail account

By default, cPanel comes with 1 primary email account. I strongly recommend not to use this email account and to set up a new one instead. To do so, please do the following:

X3 Theme & HostGator "HG" Theme

Note: Your control panel may look slightly different depending on the theme you are using, however the steps will be the same for all themes based off of the X3 theme.

Create an E-mail Address

  1. Click Email Accounts
  2. In the box to the right of E-mail, type the beginning section of your email address in the drop down menus to the right of the @, select the appropriate domain to associate the email to.
  3. To the left of Password, type the password you would like associated with the email address. This will be useful later, when you setup outlook or enter the email account via webmail.
  4. To the left of Password (again), type the same password.
  5. To the right of Quota, select the number of megabytes which you would like the email box to be.
  6. Click Create Account

You have now created an e-mail address.

Remove an E-mail Address

  1. Click Email Accounts
  2. Click Delete next to the email account you want removed. Note that when you remove the email account, the emails within are permanently deleted.

You have now removed an e-mail address.

X Theme

Note: The X theme in cPanel is being phased out and eventually will not be supported.

Create an E-mail Address

  1. Click Mail
  2. Click Add/Remove/Manage Accounts
  3. Click Add Account at the bottom
  4. In the box to the right of E-mail, type the beginning section of your email address in the drop down menus to the right of the @, select the appropriate domain to associate the email to.
  5. To the left of Password, type the password you would like associated with the email address. This will be useful later, when you setup outlook or enter the email account via webmail.
  6. To the right of Quota, type the number of megabytes which you would like the email box to be. Hint: If it is too low you may quickly run into an issue with emails bouncing.
  7. Click Create

You have now created an e-mail address.

Remove an E-mail Address

  1. Click Mail
  2. Click Add/Remove/Manage Accounts
  3. Click Delete next to the email account you want removed. Note that when you remove the email account, the emails within are permanently deleted.

You have now removed an e-mail address.
