How to access your email through cPanel

There are several ways to read your email. Normally, users will go to your domain name.com/webmail and login.

If you are the administrator and would like to access different email accounts through the cPanel, you may do the following:

  1. Click on the Mail icon (not the Webmail icon!)
  2. At the bottom, click on the Webmail button next to the account that you want to read.
  3. Enter the correct password. If you need to force your way in, you can reset the email password at step 2.
  4. Click on the web mail application that you would like to use.

You have now accessed your email through cPanel.

I am not receiving email in my "default" inbox. For example, when I login to Horde, I do not see my messages in the inbox. Instead, I see them in a folder named user@website.com. I can send and receive email from this folder without any problems.

I just changed several sites from my old webhost - not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Is there any way to configure email so it is sent to my "default" inbox?

This is not a good medium for troubleshooting and support.

From the information I have, I suspect that you are accessing the Webmail icon from within cPanel. Please do not do that.

Instead, go to your-domain.com/webmail and login at the prompt.

I'm having email troubles. I saw "no mail, no mail, no mail", then one day I had thousands of messages. I read them, sorted them, added some folders to my email, then deleted some. The next day and for the next two months, I see "no mail." What's up? I know I have stored messages, even if I don't have any spam - which would be strange - but I can't seem to find them. What should I do next?

You are obviously going to two different places at different times. In cPanel, click on the Mail icon, but never the Webmail icon. Also, never attempt to access the webmail account for your plain cPanel username; it will only confuse you more.

If you still have problems, contact HostGator so we can show you this. Also, we may need to help you disable your catchall email, as this could be redirecting your emails to the wrong mailbox.
