How do I get my eNom domain reseller account?

To request your eNom domain reseller account, please fill out the form located at http://www.hostgator.com/enom.php

About

The eNom account comes free with any reseller, VPS, or dedicated server plan. It allows our resellers to buy domain names for as low as $9.45 per year, and works with WHMCS or WHM Autopilot.

eNom offers you domain registrations at these prices:

TLD Price Effective 1/14/2012 Price Before 1/14/2012
.COM $10.50 $10.00
.NET $10.50 $10.00
.ORG $9.75 $9.75
.BIZ $9.75 $9.75
.US $9.75 $9.75
.INFO $9.45 $9.45

All above prices are per year.

This will also grant you access to eNom's website so you can manage your domains, and even take advantage of eNom features like a custom Parking Page. (The custom parking page is a one page website used as a place holder until you design a real website.)

By default, your account is set up as a retail eNom account. You can upgrade your account by emailing sales@hostgator.com and providing us with your eNom username and password and requesting that the retail account be upgraded to a "reseller API" account.

Differences between the two types of accounts:

Sub Retail:
  • You pay with a credit card PER each domain registration.
  • You do not have access to the eNom reseller tools.
  • HostGator has full access to your domain names.

Sub Reseller:
  • You make a $100.00 deposit and keep a positive balance on your account. (credit card and PayPal will remove 3% per transaction)
  • You have access to the eNom reseller tools and sub account structure. (eNom API and Registry Rocket)
  • HostGator has limited access to your domain names.
  • Set your own default DNS to be used when registering domains.
  • Set your own default information for the WHOIS information when you register domains.

Why ENOM charge a 195 setup fee if you want to be a direct API reseller and you offer the same for a 100 dlls. deposit. How can you API resellers acount at lower prices than ENOM.

HostGator
That is a better question for eNom. We have nothing to do with the offer they give you.

HostGator does use eNom exclusively, and they might offer us better deals since we provide them so much business.

Shamli
You said eNom Domain Reseller comes free with any reseller or dedicated plan and domain prices at $9.45. But why still we need to upgrade to Reseller APi and pay $100 ? Or,perhaps the upgrade is free.

HostGator
You are not forced to upgrade to the API version.

It is your choice, and a free upgrade; however, the API version requires a $100 deposit so that your visitors can order domain registrations automatically.

The $100 goes entirely to your domain registration purchases. Neither HostGator nor eNom get any of that money.

Deon
Buying at $9.45, how can we possibly compete with the big guys when selling domains? At what price would we have to sell in order to make a profit?

HostGator
You cannot possibly compete with public registrars, as they do not resell someone else's services.

However, you can offer a domain registration bundled with your hosting plans and packages. Also, you can get your own domain names for cheaper.

You must determine the potential profit of your business with someone who has a business degree and can construct a business model.

It seems fishy to say i get a FREE enom reseller account, but I hafta pay $100 to make it work?

HostGator
There is no scam here.

You do get a free eNom reseller account. This does NOT require a $100 deposit. So, to register any domain names for your clients, you must sign-in at enom.com and buy the domain ($9.45) with your credit card.

This means your clients will need to wait to have their domain name, and the domain name can be registered by another person if you don't act quickly.

However, you may also upgrade to a free eNom reseller API. The API is completely automated to sell domains via your website and to register the domains with eNom immediately. So, you must have a deposit which is used to buy the domain ($9.45).

This means your clients will NOT need to wait to have their domain name, and the domain name CANNOT be registered by another person.

somina
l with your free reseller account, you also have to pay $15 to transfer the domain name to hostgator for hosting
Please confirm.
l already have a reseller hosting account with hostgator and would like to register domains using the free domain reseller account. But l was told l have to pay $15 before l can host with my reseller hosting account

HostGator
It is your choice. You may register with whatever company you like.

You may pay HostGator to register your domain, or you may sign up for a reseller with a temporary/potential domain name and then register your own domain with the eNom reseller account.

Linda
I am getting great support from HG and will continue NOT TO COMPLAIN like others have done. I think your prices are very fair. I am satisfied with HG. Thank you for all you help. Linda

ed
hi if i upgrade to eNom so i can sell domains direct from my web site do i pay the $100 strait away when i fill out the upgrade form when do i pay the $100 dollers thank's ed

HostGator
You do not pay the $100 deposit to HostGator. We will upgrade you to the reseller API for no charge.

Next time you sign into eNom Central, you must deposit a minimum of $100, or you will not be able to register any domains. (So, you can do this anytime.)

sasan
after we upgrade to reseller account, how can we set it up with our website?
do you guys do the set up?
how is it gonna be integrated into to hosting website?

HostGator
Please read the related article called "How to add eNom API to a website via WHM AutoPilot".

Happy Customer
Okay folks! For the enom API upgrade...it IS free! The $100 is YOUR money that YOU deposit into your enom account. This money is used for when a customer comes to you and registers a domain. The cost of the domain that YOUR NEW customer requests is deducted from the $100 deposit that you put into your enom account. No credit card needed for each domain name purchase.

Word to the wise....keep a positive cash flow in your enom account.

Buildyourowngraphics
So, the basic domain option that is included with WHM (not the API), does this actually tie in any way to enom? Or can we just use it to get a recurring payment from the customer and register their name wherever we want to?

HostGator
Either way will work.

The default domain option gives you an account with eNom, and they will sell you domains which you can resell for a profit.

Also, you can buy a domain name anywhere and resell it for profit.

The eNom account does not bill your customers for you. You can do that with WHMCS or WHM Autopilot (or any other billing software).

Ahmad
I have reseller account in enom but by another reseller
How can I transter my enom reseller under hostgator?

HostGator
Email sales@hostgator.com with your eNom username and we will assist you.

Gabriel
I've a reseller account with you. I'm reading at http://www.hostgator.com/enomreseller.shtml that every reseller account comes with a free enom domain reseller account.

How can I get it?

Thanks

HostGator
Please fill out the form located at http://www.hostgator.com/enom.php

Patsy
So, after signing up with Enom, paying the $100 to get the account started -- do you process future domain purchases and/or transfers from Enom's website or someplace on HG or through your own reseller WHMCS? And how do you keep up with the process (I understand the transfer can take up to 7 days and needs email verification from name's admin).
Thanks,

HostGator
You will process future registrations via your billing system (such as WHMCS).

You will get a transaction ID for each purchase, and you can track those at enomcentral.com .

Gideon George
Please how much does enom deduct from my account anytime I sell domain name. I want to know the exact price so that I will know how to charge my customers.

HostGator
It is whatever price eNom offers you. Typical TLDs (.com, .net, .org, .us, .info, and .biz) are $9.45 each.

They only charge 3% when you apply a deposit, not when you purchase a domain.

SKi
So who actually owns the domain in each case? eNom, HG, the reseller, or the end customer? I notice it says HG has full access non API and would have less access with API.

HostGator
The end user is the owner, and can transfer the registration to another company if they prefer.

Until they do so, the domain will be ultimately controlled by eNom. HostGator and the reseller will still have enough access to manage non-API sign ups, and the reseller will still have enough access to manage his API sign ups.

Jen
I want to know if I can use the eNom account to register domains on behalf of my clients and have them be the owner (and me the technical etc contact). Also please let me know if I can register .com.au .net.au and .org.au domains through eNom.

HostGator
Sure, you can do whatever you want. However, if your customer is paying for the domain, ethically, you should list them as the registrant contact.

You can register any domain names which HostGator can register, so just check our list.

Most other domain registrars charge customers just approximately $8 for buying of domains.
If I buy a domain for $9.45 how much will I sell it to make reasonable profit?
The market can never be succesful because people will prefer registering with companies that offer very cheap domains to buying from a person who is charging more than $10.
And also if you sell it for $10, the profit will just be 65cents which is pathetic

HostGator
Most domains cost around $10 per year, but with HostGator you are also getting the convenience of buying your domain in one place, and you get the excellent 24/7/365 support via chat, phone and email (even on holidays or in the middle of the night). That makes it possible for your company to offer anytime support on any day to your customers.

Also, you can resell our hosting plus domain registrations and other services to make your company more unique. So, if you package your services, it will be easier to sell them.

Kevin
If my customers purchase domain names through the api will they have access to administer their domain name on their own in the event they want to change DNS, etc?

HostGator
Yes, eNom provides you with a customizable landing page for your domain customers to login and manage their service.

Alex
So your saying that with the free account we get with eNom, we have to pay per transaction to eNom for every domain a customer orders? That would mean there would be no way to automate this process until we have paid the $100 deposit to eNom, correct?

Or is there another service or way of automating my customers domain purchases without having to deposit money?

Why does my credit card have to purchase the domain and not my customers through WHMCS?

HostGator
Yes, you must deposit money before you can automate domain registrations.

If you choose not to deposit money, then the purchase cannot be automated. The reason is there is too much risk of fraud from stolen credit cards if eNom trusts your users.

You can only guarantee payment by making the payment yourself. This way eNom can register the domain with no risk, and you can enjoy the domain immediately. You accept the responsibility to check for potential fraud, or pay the cost of the domain if you get defrauded.

Max
How do i get money from my clients then

HostGator
Send them a bill, or use a billing program like WHMCS or WHMAP.
http://support.hostgator.com/articles/what-is-the-difference-between-whm-autopilot-and-whm-completesolution-whmcs

You will need a PayPal payment gateway so you can accept credit card and PayPal payments.

nipp
how long do i have to wait after i purchase a domain with a credit card? without the 100 dollar deposit

HostGator
Pretty much instant. The time frame depends on eNom's shopping cart and payment gateway.

InterestedInReselling
I'm interested in a Reseller Account but after after looking into this thoroughly I'm feeling as if there's really no money to be made. Mainly due to the fact that I have to purchase each domain for my clients. Many and all sites basically are offering unlimited domains. Now I can then break down bandwidth and storage per a client's account between their multiple domains(most likely offering the original or at least the one seeing the most traffic and/or has the most needs a greater allotment). However if just 10 clients register a single domain each that's $100 right there. After looking around at what would be my potential competition I'm seeing hosting offered at around $8 for 5GB of storage and 50GB of bandwidth. At your smallest Reseller package that would mean 10 domains with an equal allotment of space and bandwidth between them. However most clients are going to want multiple domains and if a $10 fee is then processed to me I will see that $100 deposit vanish quickly with little or no return back in the long run. If potentially I can only make $80 ideally on a $125 investment(Reseller Account plus eNom deposit) or even less if 4,5, or even 6 clients of the 10 want multiple domains then where's the real profit?

HostGator
You are confused about the "unlimited domains" feature every host offers.

HostGator and other hosts offering hosting for "unlimited domains" are actually offering only the hosting solution. They are not offering a free domain registration. Everyone on those "unlimited domains" plans still have to buy each domain name for an annual registration price.

As a reseller, you can offer hosting for unlimited domains, or support for unlimited domains. Referring back to your example, each customer who has 5GB disk space will be able to host an unlimited number of Addon domains.

If you wish to offer all of the domain registrations for free, you will quickly go broke, as you are only getting $8 per month for a service worth infinite dollars (as many domains as I want to host x $15 each). Some hosts may offer 1 free domain registration, as the annual price of one domain ($15) can be easily outweighed by $8 per month times 12 months.

Jeff
Enom offer several plan options...

Which plan does one get with your reseller account?

Can we offer .co.uk and other domains too?

Thanks for your help.

Jeff.

HostGator
Enom offers us gators a special price structure, so I can't compare it to their other domain-reseller offers.

Yes, you can offer .co.uk domains; just check the related article "Which domain names can HostGator register, TLD prices?" and you will know which names you can register, and which you can transfer.

Thank you for the great support Host Gator team.

Please is it possible for me to register a Domain Name with enom or any other site now and transfer it to my site later on when I start up as a Reseller to enom via your offering as I have got a hosting from you? If yes, how?

HostGator
Yes, of course you can do that. Just login to your eNom Central account and request to transfer a domain to your account.

Alternatively, you can get the eNom API and use Registry Rocket to allow visitors to transfer their domains to you.

jnardone
Hi:
I was told that I need this account in order to add separate private nameservers on my dedicated server so that domains that I already own can have a nameserver that matches the domain. Is this correct??

HostGator
This eNom account will allow you to register new names and create private name servers for those domains.

However, if you already own the domains, then you don't need anything extra. Instead, simply contact the registrar of each domain and request they register (for free) the private name servers you want.

Elena
Wow. What a lot of questions, simply and easily answered by HG.. The support here is amazing, and that in itself is worth it. I love the idea of being able to offer my clients domain registration and hosting, and bundling it is the way to make it profitable. Thanks again!

jj
can my customers pay me by cheques or bank transfers for hosting/domain registration charges instead of credit card/paypal.

HostGator
Yes, you may accept any payment method you desire.

However, you must pay eNom with your credit card (or any method they decide to allow).

VMall
For those of you complaining... if you take the time to read what HostGator has said MANY times over. You would realise this is a DEPOSIT which means your still not paying anything end your account and so long as your account isnt in the negative you get all of that money back if you ever cancel your account. This is standard business practice in many industries even web design/development and yes hosting too!

Trust me if you market your site correctly you will get that money back and then some so relax and like they said you dont have to upgrade you can do it manually if you like and then you dont have any deposits whatsoever!

Dorian
HG probably has one of the best customers services that I have experienced and I recommend everyone to use the online chat it's more convenient, fast & easy to answer all your questions. I'm a web developer and I'm still new to this cpanel interface which I'm learning everyday. Any question that you have in mind stop youtubing or googling, use THE ONLINE CHAT guys with all your questions!
