QuickInstall

QuickInstall, our in-house script auto-installer, is functioning on all shared and reseller plans. It works just like Fantastico.

You can get Quickinstall for dedicated/VPS plans with cPanel (currently Plesk is not supported) by emailing support@hostgator.com with your request.

Note: If there is any admin login information, it will be sent to the email address you provide in the installation steps (or the email you have on file with HostGator if it does not ask for an email address).

I would like to suggest adding 'Movable Type' to the blogs in Quick Install.

I have installed Wordpress with a 2nd domain and I've tried about 10 time and I don't get the blog after I installed......does ANYONE know what I'm doing wrong, this is beyond frustration.

Sounds like you may need to point your domain's DNS to HostGator.

Does QuickInstall update the software after they are installed? Or do we have to install any updates manually? Thank you.

You can update the version automatically via the QuickInstall page. Just click the name of the program and you should see an update link (if a new version is available).

Can you update through WordPress directly when you install with QuickInstall?

Yes, you have a real copy of WordPress which will remind you of updates in the wp-admin section. The reminder includes a link to automatically upgrade.

Since that is not part of QuickInstall, I recommend you perform a full backup before using the auto-upgrade link in wp-admin. New versions sometimes have bugs or they are incompatible with your favorite themes and plugins, so you want to have a backup in case you were happier before the update.

Hey,
I would just like to say that quickinstall is great. I spent so long looking for an autoinstaller for magento. Host gator are an amazing host. I want to also make a suggestion I think it would be really useful to have an Android app for quickinstall so that u can run installations on the go.
